What is the Pee Wee Clinic?
The clinic
is intended to be a parent and child program and will be run in an academy style. All children will participate in a
group setting (no specific teams) and the coaches will run them through various games and skills geared towards introducing
soccer to the small children. Parents are asked to participate with their children to help them get individual attention
and to incorporate family time. No experience is necessary for the parents.
We will run five practices and then hold a "Game Night" on the last night. Invite the family
and friends to experience the "swarm".
Does my child need soccer gear to play in the clinic?
Each
child should bring a number 3 soccer ball, wear shin guards and bring water to each session. All children are required
to wear tennis shoes at a minimum (no sandals or open-toed shoes). You can purchase soccer cleats if you wish,
but they are not required. We will have shin guards available for purchase for $5.00 at the soccer field. You
can also check out availability of shoes in our soccer exchange.
Other programs do not have teams for three-year olds, what is the point?
Children at this age have lots of energy, but little retention of skills. They are interested in playing soccer
like the other "big kids" but there are few programs for them. This program is intended to let them participate,
enjoy time with their parent(s), and begin to learn the basics of soccer. Their is no intent for the kids to retain
these skills, just to have fun! We hope it also introduces you to NorthSide Soccer and encourages you to join our
league as your child is ready for the next level.
When will it be held?
The Pee Wee Clinic will be
held on six Wednesday nights at 6:30-7:15pm, beginning April 25th and ending May 30th at Sahm Park.
What is the cost and what is included?
The clinic will be $75 for the spring season and includes a t-shirt, individual and clinic picture, season picnic
and participation medal. If you register by January 31st, you will save an additional $10 of the registration.
Register before March 31st or pay late registration fee. All registration after March 31st are subject to clinic size
limit.
Do we need to
attend Meet the Team Night?
Pee Wee Clinic participants are not required to attend
Meet the Team night. Since this is more of an academy style, all participants should arrive for the first time on Wednesday,
April 25 at 6:30 pm and meet at the soccer fieldhouse.
Will there be any games?
Yes! The last session
on May 30th will include a game with all the kids, medal presentations and a lot of picture opportunities. Invite the
grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. to come and see the "swarm".
When is picture night?
Individual Pictures will
be taken on May 16th starting at 6:00 pm. Academy (all participants) picture will be at about 7:00 pm. We will practice
around the pictures.
