What is the difference between Recreation
and Recreation-Plus Teams?
NorthSide Soccer is dedicated to providing co-ed recreation teams at Sahm Park.
Our focus is family-oriented, positive play where having fun is the primary outcome and not the score. The recreation
teams play all games against other NorthSide Soccer teams at Sahm Park. There are 8 games on Saturdays.
For
those older players looking for a little more challenge, we offer play on one of our recreation-plus teams. There is
a team for U12 players (10 and 11 year olds) and one for U15 players (ages 12-14). These teams play as a NorthSide Soccer
team and play other local central Indiana teams that are a part of the NCRSL soccer league. They play 3 games at Sahm
Park (Home) and 3 games at other locations around central Indiana and are provided two tournament games at the end of the
season. These teams do have allocation rules to follow, so please read the NorthSide Soccer Approach for Recreational Plus Soccer Teams available on our web site home page.

What if my child has never played soccer before?
You have
come to the right place. We want to be a league where everyone can play, regardless of their skill level or specific
needs. We form our teams to ensure a balance between experience and age, so everyone has the opportunity to learn the
game.
How will I know my child is registered?
If you register on-line you will have an option to print a receipt for your registration.
If you register in person, you will be given a receipt (if you paid by cash) after you have correctly and completely gone
through the registration process. This will be your proof. Do not lose it!! If you paid by check, your cancelled check from
your bank is your proof.
When can I expect to hear from my coach?
The coaches will not get their rosters
with your names and phone numbers until the wee before practice. Coaches anticipate will contact you with the name practice
day and time.
What can I do if my child's team does not have a coach? Very simple. Volunteer to coach. You'll find you have as much fun as the kids. North Side
Soccer League holds coaches clinics each season, where you can learn all you need. E-mail at webmaster@northsidesoccer.com and let us know you are interested.
How are teams formed?
Teams are formed to be as fair and to
promote the objective of fun for all the players. We use a system that takes into account practice night
preference, age of player, number of seasons played and skill level. We also take parent requests to move their
children up into a higher skill/age bracket if they are not being challenged.
Can I pick my child's
team or coach?
No.
All "teams" are created to be fair and equal and each child is assigned based on the criteria listed above.
We will do our best to place siblings on the same teams and allow player transfers due to carpool or convenience issues. We
also consider your input in moving children up a soccer level to ensure they will have fun and be challenged (just e-mail
us or mark your preference in the comments in registration). We do not honor requests for a certain coach
as allowing some teams to remain intact this way can cause those teams to be stronger than others. Our teams are intended
to be FUN for everyone. If your interested in a competitive soccer league for your child, we can recommend other leagues that
offer travel and competitive soccer.
What about Practices?
We practice at Sahm Park on either Tuesday or Thursday nights
around 6:00 or 6:30 pm. We strive to provide you with your designated practice preference night.
Coaches will gather contact you for specific date and time the week before practice. Please be sure to
discuss any special needs you may have.
What equipment does my child need?
North Side League provides each player
with a jersey, shorts and a pair of socks. You will need to provide:
- a ball of the appropriate size
for your child's age group (size 3 for U6/U8 and size 4 for U10/U12).
- shin guards; No one can
play at practice or a game without shin guards.
- a water bottle for games and practice.
- Soccer
cleats are not required but highly recommended (much safer on wet or muddy fields). You can find these items at most sporting
goods and discount stores. We typically have discount coupons available from our sponsors at Dick's Sporting
Goods to save money on some of these items.
What can I do to help?
Volunteer your time. Our league
is completely volunteer run. Become a coach, sign up to be a team parent, assist with concession stand duties for a
game, become a board member, help with striping or setting up the fields or with the season picnic e-mail us at webmaster@northsidesoccer.com or call (317) 767-1274 and find out what needs to be done. It takes a lot of work to keep the club going and we welcome a
fresh perspective and help in any way.
